Where Do I Go to See Monkeys in Costa Rica? #HELLYES

I know you're probably all sorts of overwhelmed trying to figure out ALL THE PLACES YOU COULD GO IN #COSTARICA, but if you want to see monkeys?

There is only one place.

(Sort of like how there's only one place you should go if you want a Philly cheesesteak, but I digress.)

If you want to see monkeys, do not go to Limón. If you want to see monkeys, do not go to Guanacaste. If you want to see monkeys, do not go to Jacó. And if you want to see monkeys, definitely do not go to San José.

The only place you should be making a beeline for is MANUEL ANTONIO. On the Pacific Coast. Even though it probably seems like I'm biased because we live here! I promise I am not. This is where the monkeys are at, ya'll. In fact, the Manuel Antonio National Park is full of 'em. So many monkeys, that people who study actual primates come here to check it out. But the cool thing is that since the park is really just an extension of the main beach and land, right down the street? There are monkeys everywhere. We have monkeys on our back deck almost every day! There are monkeys crossing the road. There are monkeys on the beach. There are monkeys on your hammock at night. ;)

And not just one kind: there are actually three. Three kinds of monkeys. Are you getting excited or what? We've got the White-Faced Monkey, the Howler Monkey, and the Squirrel Monkey, and all three of 'em are here in Manuel Antonio. My best recommendation? Take a walk anytime from 4-5pm: it's what I call "the monkey witching hour." They're everywhere! (Although you usually don't see the Howler: but you do hear them: they sound a lot like an angry rhinoceros.)

If there's one place you won't regret visiting, it's Manuel Antonio. And not just because there are monkeys: because it's hands-down the prettiest beach in all of Costa Rica. But that's a blog post for a different time. ;)
